2010 AGM update.  Meeting held 5th December 2010.

The 2010 AGM saw a few constitutional changes, some new officers and a fine lunch.

The changes to the constitution were all passed as described in the pre meeting information.  The election of Officers saw Leanne Murray’s resignation from the committee, Stu Hutchings stepping down as President and Harry Keys stepping down as Club Captain.

Unofficially (as I didn’t take notes) the new committee looks like:

Patron       Rod MacFarlane

President   Marty Staines

Secretary   Maggie McCaughan

Treasurer   Marion Fournier

Club Captain       Jim Norris

Booking     Vicki Moss

General      Harry Keys

                 Brent

Ian Chamberlain

                 Thomas Schwarz

                 Stu Hutchings

                 Anne Battersby

Thanks were given to Leanne’s work as Booking Officer and to Stu’s contribution as President.

Other points to note included the increase in Lodge night fees due to GST.  These have resulted in generally $1 increases.  In addition the subs have also been increased.  Both of these increases are GST only (rounded up to the nearest dollar).

More details to follow once the minutes have been compiled.

Club Racing

Each year there are a series of 3 club races held on Whakapapa.  These are open to clubs on the mountain and they are the Christiana Derby (Christiana Ski Club), Haensli Cup (Ruapehu Ski Club) and the Ngauruhoe Cup (Ngauruhoe Ski Club).

These races are team races with categories for Junior, Senior and Masters.  The teams consist of 5 members, at least one female, with the best 4 times contributing to the result.

These races are usually run in the Valley and each team member gets one run.  The best part is the Prize Giving/Social held at the respective club after the lifts close (heaps of food, refreshments and spot prizes).

Over the last few years we have had a presence and occasionally have picked up a prize or two (see the previous years race results) so as this is a club social event we want as many people to take part as possible.  Age and abilities are not barriers as we had kids as young as 9 yrs old race last year and a couple nearly 60 yrs old.

Anyone who is interested (especially the young kids) should contact the Club Captain, Harry Keys.

The races are on Saturday 7th August, Saturday 21st August and Saturday 4th September.  These races are also great practise for the Club Championships on Sat 25th September.

Further to these races are a couple of events for juniors being the Rossignol and Mapei races.  These are fun events and details are on RAL’s website.

AGM Update

A new Patron and a new Life Member were signed in at the AGM (13th December 2009).

Tangi Martin tendered his resignation as Patron.  Tangi has held the position since 1992 and felt that it was time for him to step aside for a more 'active' member to take over.  Tangi is one of the few remaining 'original' members.

Rod McFarlane is the new Patron.  Rod has been with the club since 1962 and we have seen 3 generations of the McFarlanes through the Club.

It would come as no surprise that Tangi Martin has also been made a Life Member.
